sketches and failures | ||||||
| People have said I shouldn't include a page like this. I don't see why not. I'm not a terribly brilliant artist, so I figure I should lay it all out, like some skinny dead body. At least, it might have more potence in its entirety. Besides, its not a mystical process, this art thing. Its mistakes and sketches. Its not alchemy. Its more like experimentation. I've always said art should be a lot like physics. Like physicists, artists have their own complex language, own history and special codes. But physicists can come of their laboratories and say 'Look! A new chemical than can help the fight against Global Warming!' or 'Hurrah! I've discovered a new type of footwear that will eradicate sore feet!' So, too, must artists leave the safety of our studios and show the world the useful things we've made for the rest of the world. I'm not saying I'm anywhere close to being useful - far from it - but I do aim for it. It sounds naive, but its true. | ||||||
